Mr Murtagh Certainly Loves Skulls
We recently stumbled upon some cool vector and photoshop illustrations featuring skulls by Joe Murtagh and one of his skull creations even has a tash, nicely timed for ol Movember. I shall contribute my ‘mocha stained’ upper lip. When I say he loves skull I certainly mean it as they are all over the place.
You can purchase various prints of Murtaghs on Society 6.
Robson Borges Skulls
I have come to recognize the style of Robson Borges through various t-shirt websites like Threadless and Design by Humans. Now we have the pleasure of introducing you guys to a couple of his skulls. He is pretty good when it comes to designing illustrations for dark fabric(or dark backgrounds) as they tend to ‘blend in’ well. His illustrations often use vibrant colours, silhouettes , hidden images and lovely textures.
Be sure to check out his work on various sites like Society 6, DBH profile and Threadless. They may not all have skulls but they are still awesome.
The Dagger Woods
Interesting skull design by James White. This fictional horror movie poster is based on the classic but vague “movie posters from the 1970′s”. I like the style of this as it’s a nice blend of stark shapes, hints of texture and emanating heat. Oh yes and it’s a skull of course.
You can purchase this poster at his online store on his website Signalnoise for $35
Knocked Speechless Skull
One of the best skull t-shirts I have seen with regards to trying something a little different to the traditional front on image of a skull. The Knocked Speechless title also has nice connotations for me as I wonder what the hell happened to the guy. You can buy here for $24.
You can watch the time lapse video showing the vector work for the skull here. Another reason for me to get a Wacom tablet.
Geometric Skull
I love tesselated triangles! Looks pretty good on this Geometric Eye Candy design by Young Davies.
Image found on Yellow and other inspiring stuff. Actually a pretty cool blog so check it out.
