Some Skulls from Midnight Gallery’s Tumblr

Here are a selection of skulls the I found on the wonderfully macabre Midnight Gallery Tumblr. As they are Tumblr images I will spend some time tracking down the artists/photographers/creators if I can and create a post for each of them with any extra historic information. I recommend that you check out Midnight Tumblr blog if you are into the dark side as there are some amazing images many of which are pretty freaky.

Godmachine – The Skull King

Ok we have dubbed Godmachine the  Skull King and I’m sure many of you will agree that he is a master. I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to feature him on the Skull Appreciation Society but here he is all the same. Having a look through his portfolio you will notice his love for skulls goes unmatched and I’m sure he sneaks more into the design that you don’t notice at first. Another thing I love about Godmachine apart from his amazing illustration skills is the fact that his screen prints are amazingly affordabe, that being an understatement. He generally sells A2 screen prints in the range £15 £25. Yes please. That also means they sell faster than Willy Wonka bars.

My advice is that if you like his work then follow Godmachine on Facebook as he is always updating and you get to know as soon as prints are released. I was able to nab ‘Monk’ (2nd image) from his Disturbia Stockist. It’s fucking lovely.

Skulls by Jan Fabre

Jan Fabre is one seriouly talented fella with his creative flair applied to many areas, including stage direction, scuplture and designing to name but a few. Good to see that this multi faceted artist has included some skulls to his already immaculate CV.

These skulls are a part of recently launched exhibition called ‘Pride comes before a fall of the lash’. These skulls have their jaws clenched around various stuffed critters and are covered with the remains of insects with a dazzling array of colours. If you are near Gallery 604 in Busan Korea then check it out.

Skulls by Total Lost

Subtly wicked and dark skull illustrations by Total Lost.  By the looks of it most illustrations are printed on high quality 150g paper with a small white border for framing. They also have a skulltastic Mickey Mouse to wear proudly on your chest.

Ryohei Hase

Have not checked out the awesome art by Ryohei Hase in a while and was pleasantly surprised to find  one of his latest pieces feature skulls. This piece which remains untitled is powerful and only upon close inspection can you see that the creature is ripping out the mans skull and spine. Reminds me of a character from a game called MDK when he soars and destroys everything that moves.

As strange as it may sound, this illustration was drawn for an article called ‘The Anatomy of Hacking’ for  Playboy magazine.

Check out the rest of his work here.
