The Skull Appreciation Society would not be complete without the addition of the Diamond Skull Damien Hirst Created. For the Love of God was produced in 2007 and is a platinum cast human skull encrusted with 8601 diamonds. The skull cost £14 million to make and went on display in the White Cube Gallery in London, with an asking price of a whopping £50 million.
We found these colourful “Rainbow Skulls” over at MF Joes blog. At first I thought they were computer rendered skulls, but they are plastic replicas that have been ‘spin’ painted. Upon further investigation I read this article at Newsfeed and found out that these gaudy skulls are to be available for purchase with what appears to be a minimum £36,800 price tag from the gift shop at The Tate Modern.
