Wooden Skull Carving with Antlers

wooden skull carving

This unusual looking wooden skull carving, with antlers, is called The Woodsman Urn and has been created by Etsy artist, Jason Tennant. This piece caught my eye because I have been telling Doug, the other dude who likes to post about skulls and the artist behind Mr Four Fingers, to draw a skull with antlers as a potential t-shirt design or print. No luck yet, but maybe this will give him some inspiration. And hopefully he reads this post too. ha.

Having read the description now by the artist, I am blown away by the origin of this piece as Jason Tennant created this as an Urn for his late father. It’s very moving and a very personal piece for the artist which makes it even more special. He can create a similar one, with your own custom variations, so please contact him to discuss your requirements

This particular skull is a remake of a previous piece, are made to order and will set you back £453. The wood used is USA hardwoods – Maple, Ash, Oak, etc. Shipping to the USA only.

La Mano de Cuervo

La Mano de Cuervo , translated as Raven’s Hand (or Crow Tongue?), is a random Flickr account find of a fella with a whole bunch of lovely photography from excursions into the forest. Amongst these gems are a few diamonds, in the form of skulls.

Check out the rest of La Mano de Cuervo and his photography over at his Flickr account.

Erick Swenson’s Rotting Deer Skull

This gruesomely beautiful decaying deer skull is indeed an extremely well crafted piece of sculpture cast in resin. As you can see from the detail shot, there is also some mysterious ship and motif with further script writing underneath.

This deer skull, called Ne Plus Ultra, measures 30.5 x 40.6 x 35.6cm and was found on Saatchi Gallery
